Five Months

Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 3:00AM Dear Severus Danger,
Today you are five months old.

Yes. Five months old.
This month has been full of discovery for you.
You've experienced textures galore, you've been mesmerized by the movements of your hands, and occupied for minutes on end by trying to grab your wiggly little toes.

You are pursuing the discovery of your likes and your dislikes with great intensity as you experience the world around you.
You like nursing, and when it's time to do so, you smile widely and put your hands out. Then you do, probably the cutest thing ever - you growl and burrow your face into my breast to nurse.
You don't like my haircut. Now that it's so short, it's harder for you to pull at it.
You like your brothers. You watch them play and you giggle at them.

You don't like teething, and as someone who has been dealing with the eruption of wisdom teeth for 10 years, I understand why that would suck. I don't like it with you.
You dislike the car seat. And the car. And when it stops. And sometimes when it moves. You do like being out of it, though, so - phew.
You like spending time with your Daddy. For a couple of days he was really, really sick and didn't want to infect you. You were pretty upset about not getting your Daddy Time. You kept staring at him, and you yelled at him a few times too.
But as soon as he felt better, all was forgiven and you grabbed a hold of his face and nommed him!
You're a good nommer.
Some Things That Have Happened This Past Month:
♥ Teething is hitting full force. Your gums are swollen and red. I have a feeling a couple may sprout this month.
♥ You caught your first cold. You fussed a little bit, but smiled through most of it.
♥ You are rolling over! Tummy to back, back to tummy. In the morning, you catch my eye and smile slyly and you flip right onto your tummy. I lose much more sleep these days.
♥ You dumped your binky.
♥ Ueli Baya sent you your first Valentine's Day card, Titi Pamela made you a beautiful Slytherin inspired nursing necklace and Chris and your almost birth buddy, Ray surprised you with a monster from Lu & Ed! You love all of your gifts. {Thank you all!}
♥ You're beginning to sit up unassisted for short periods of time, though mostly you grab our hands and try to pull yourself to standing. Standing is what you enjoy best.
♥ You are army crawling all over the place! We give you most of your tummy time while your brothers are asleep so that you can explore without having big heads in your line of vision. And this is when you really go! You start off rocking back and forth on your tummy, giggling and then you plop your arms and legs on the floor, make a serious face and push yourself along.
♥ You're beginning the whole "Hey! What's this? *shrugs* In my mouth! Yay!" thing. That's a lot of fun.
Where, oh where, oh where is Severus? Some Things That Have Not Happened This Past Month:
/♥ You have yet to fetch me a soda from the fridge.
/♥ You have not yet claimed to be a warlock with tiger's blood running through your veins.
/♥ Despite the egging on from random strangers, you have not tried solids. All in good time, my sweet.
/♥ You are not reciting your alphabet backwards.
/♥ You are not President of the United States.
Severus, the many things you learn and experience every day are thrilling to all of us.
My favorite part of any day is sitting with you on my lap, your brothers beside me, and reading some silly little book. I love hearing the three of you laugh as I dramatically hop from character to character.
You are a seamless addition to our days, like you've always been here, you are just as happy to have a spontaneous dance party as you are sitting in your bouncer eating your favorite buddies and ignoring everyone. Adjusting to life with you has not been too difficult at all.
As always, my little Prince, I am awed by your accomplishments and am blessed to see your personality grow every day. You melt my heart with how sweet you are.
Four months was a blast, you experienced such a wide array of different things. I am sure five months will be just as wonderful and exciting.

I love you, Boo Boo.
Always,
Mommy

I might have squee'd a little when you called him Prince (and in my head I kept thinking Half Blood Prince Severus)
Titi? AWE. I'm so honored. LOVE YOU, SEVIE!
He's totally a full blood. :P
Hehe, he's right around the same age as my Sebastian. :) And he is SO CUTE that I had to show his pictures to my husband. And we are picky when it comes to babies' looks, yo. Also, is Danger his real middle name? Because my husband really wanted Danger to be Sebastian's middle name. (We settled on Donatello.)
