Nine Months

Dear Severus Danger,

Today you are nine months old.

When I was little time moved slowly; the five minutes of school before the bell ushering in Summer vacation rang, lasted an hour, the fifteen days between April's beginning and my birthday felt like a month, the night before Christmas was at least a year of torment.

But your arrival sped up our world. It must have. Because these last nine months with you have positively flown by.

These days you're mostly working on your balance and leg strength, standing unsupported for almost 30 seconds at a time, it won't be long until you're walking all over the place. You are still cruising the furniture for the moment, but now you're bridging the gaps between items that aren't too far apart from each other.

You are so adorable, flapping your little arms as you take one great, big, wobbly leap. Sometimes you make it, and you look right back at us and smile widely, other times you don't and fall on your bottom but there's still a huge smile on your face. You are just as proud of your accomplishments and attempts as we are.

And you are almost always in a great mood.

I said "almost" always...

For four days last month, we were away from home to attend Type A Parent Conference in Asheville, North Carolina. We had many delays, flew on small planes, hung out with hundreds of people who all wanted to say hello to you - and, unless you were utterly exhausted, you were amiable and sweet. You slept through the majority of our flights, you impressed our roomies in Asheville, you were a fantastic traveling companion.

You are the first Caraballo boy to fly. You made my first conference experience wonderful.

You've done many other things too; saw your first fireworks, attended your first Strawberry Festival, went on a playdate, attended a birthday party, tried to sleep in your own bed, ate tons of new stuff... phew! You had a very eventful eighth month.

We introduced you to your kindred spirit, your sister, this month. You remind me so much of her when she was a baby. The two of you became very fast friends and I can't tell you the joy I feel when I watch you play with your big sister and brothers. To have all four of you together... my heart is bursting.

Titi Nyann's rockstar themed birthday party; you were "rocker guy in a bathrobe".

Another new month begins for you today, and I hope it brings as much excitement and growth as the others before it. {And teeth, because as I type you have had two days of swollen gums, fever, and runny nosieness.}

I love you, my little Prince Nugget. Happy ninth monthday!

I just love this! I wish I'd done things like this when mine were that young.
