The 2012 Clickin Moms ClickinWalk - Ithaca

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 1:59PM I checked the forecast the day before our walk was scheduled; "66 and mostly sunny", it said.
Big old sunshine-y sunshine!
Coupled with the scenery of the route, I thought the weather could not be more perfect.
Then all day, I sat and watched the dark skies threaten to unleash some rainy fury. And finally. It did.
15 minutes after Veronica and I met up.
After skipping from awning to awning for a few, we decided to head on the route, gained a walker and made it downtown to browse around the Apple Festival festivities, and then finally headed into Viva Taqueria for dinner. {I had a steak fajita - yes, steak, because I couldn't really decide on anything that didn't have a crazy ton of onions, which I despise. It wasn't great.}
All that time I was worried about having my camera in the rain, and as soon as the taunt of rain damage was gone, I dropped my camera and busted my 55-200mm lens.
{Since my 55mm kit lens was never properly fixed, this means I have two borked lenses, but at least the 55 is usable. What am I going to do? I have not decided yet.}
I cried over it when I got home, I mean. I was hysterical. I held it together in the restaurant, but once I was free to weep - I did just that.
Now I'm not sure if I want to just sell the two lenses for parts, and buy one new lens to practice with, or sell just the 200, or sell the whole outfit, and switch to a new, more flexible, camera. {While I love Nikon {and trust me, I do} Canon has more options for damn near everything.}
My brain is in a sad, sad state over this.
Anyway! The whole walk was based on photography, right? So, pictures!
Not my favorites, but I shot in Manual and RAW - something I used to do, and then abandoned after a shot to my confidence doled by none other than myself, so it's a vast improvement from last year on that account if nothing else.
And? I enjoyed myself, and that was worth braving the rain for.

I'm so sorry about your lens! That sucks. Canon does have a lot of options. I'm a Pentax user, but I'm very very tempted by Canon just by the lens options alone.
Great shots. I really love the shot of the light and the rainy street.
