Treasure Chest

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10:01AM Severus continues to defy my limited parental know how by being, unquestionably, my weird kid.
Now, there is nothing wrong with being the weird kid, but there's something to be said about being the weird kid, in a brood full of weird kids...
Severus is by far my most breastfeeding attached child {beating Caesar "Barracuda Face", by a loooooong shot}, there was one point in time when I thought he might wean and he was like "Psych! Just joshin' ya, Mom skillet." and has continued to nurse with gusto. Despite having tons of food at his disposal, and in his tummy, he still nurses like a really big, extra talkative, newborn.
For months, he has been breastfeeding while holding items in his accessible hand; his dolls, a small toy, a ball - those made sense to me. But, it has progressed and sometimes it's my NookColor, nights ago it was his Elmo guitar, and last night - a metal lunchbox full of pens.
Once or twice {or a lot more times than I'm willing to admit} he has fallen asleep with a pen in his hand and has doodled all over my chest and face.
But that's just the beginning.
This morning I woke up to find an uncapped pen and a popsicle stick hidden in my bra. {Yes, I wear a bra to sleep, I wear a bra always, I love underwires too. I have issues of my own - thanks.} The other day, I freaked out when a lavendar silly band slipped from my bra and down my shirt.
I've discovered his missing "H" flash card, a very small plastic monkey, tiny Iron Man, a sample size tube of sunscreen, multiple USB cords, rainbow star confetti, flowers and grass, a shoelace, and a veritable smorgasbord of soggy bits of food - in the last two weeks.
I guess my boobs are just the gifts that keep giving!
Or... I probably should have established firmer nursing rules at the beginning of this journey.

And... photographic evidence.

This post literally made me laugh out loud. Haha! Oh, the stories you'll have for his prom date!
I would put these stories in their baby books, and whip them out when they start dating!
