Week Five: Onward To Vegetarianism!

20120616-DSC_0217

The last two weeks have been fabulous!

We've merely been tweaking some of the recipes we've already tried, and Christian was hell bent on creating some new ones of our own, so we haven't tried anything new per se'.

At first Caesar lamented about chicken. He missed chicken. Why couldn't we eat chicken? Why does chicken have to be meat? Couldn't we pretend that chicken was fish? And so on.

Mercutio eventually joined in, and now both little chickenvores are squawking at dinner.

It hasn't stopped them from trying everyting we've concocted, so as a treat, Christian suggested we surprise them with some chicken.

These kids have experienced new books, new toys, holidays, birthdays, parties galore and I have never seen them so maddeningly thrilled and excited! They were all "OMGCHICKEN!" and then their heads exploded with glee.

I figured, since I'd tried everything too, I deserved a piece and indulged with the children. Needless to say I completely understand their enthusiasm.

With Samara coming in a couple of weeks, and a trip to New York City soon to follow {details to come}, I don't know how our menu will be affected, or how much temptation I'll be able to handle before I run from the conference to make out with the most delicious cheeseburger on the face of this planet.

We're all feeling great though, Christian is still dropping weight, but I think he might have chickened out on the Yoga. My own weight seems to have stabilized, but I'm still in the 90's. Mercutio and Severus both got a little taller, Caesar shot up - so they all look thinner, but aren't really. No change in their energy levels at all.

I have got to tell you in complete honesty though, this diet has massacred our food budget. The budget, which used to be suitable and then some, weeps in despair when we create our weekly shopping lists {or maybe that's just my husband}. We make it work, no, Christian makes it work, with very few sacrifices - but it is definitely tougher!

I'll have a comparison up soon - maybe after we've settled in with Samara a bit, because from my standpoint, the difference is extreme.
