Go Paint Rocks!

While I might be regretting this a little, given the sheer number of rocks I still have drying on my windowsill {which is only HALF of the actual number of rocks painted, since my mom took some home}, I loved this project!

It began with a girls day, I brought Samara and my young cousin, G. who is visiting with us, to Michael's to find something fun to create with the brood that was home. {FYI - at the time, that brood clocked in at eight children, because of Bonus' birthday sleepover.} We went in with that goal, but no set plan of action, so we wandered aisle after aisle searching for inspiration, picking up crayons, chalk, books, and pre packaged activity kits galore, before we'd finally had enough.

I suggested to the girls that we head next door, to Barnes & Noble, sit down for a few, clear our heads, talk, read a book - then we could head back. So we did just that.

We settled in to read our piles of books when G. spotted a rock painting kit. That was JUST the inspiration we needed, but the kit didn't have enough of anything to accommodate the large number of chirrens, so we went right back to Michael's and picked up paint, brushes, feathers and sequins {as a substitute, the girls agreed we needed something shiny, but couldn't find rhinestones small enough for our rocks}.

When we got home, we gathered everyone who wanted to paint and let them have at it. My only rule of no mixing the paint in the paint containers was broken almost immediately {by a baby, so it was okay despite my slight anxiety towards the mixed up mess}, and the kids eventually decided that it would be more fun to paint their faces, eyebrows and nails instead of their rocks.

It was an outstanding 15 minutes.
{I joke, sort of, it was much closer to an hour and a half of painting fun.}
